Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale

Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale, Moylan's Brewery and Restaurant, Novato, CA
(Scotch Ale)
Moving through my queue and came across this scotch ale. Pours a dark reddish-amber with a smalle off-white head. Aroma is light...faint...sweet caramel malt, some toffee, and a bit of an earthy note. Taste is sweet, malty, little nutty. Not detecting any smokey character. Light body with a semi-dry finish. Not bad, but I've had better.

Whole Hog Wee Heavy Scotch Ale

Whole Hog Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, Stevens Point Brewery, Stevens Point, WI
(Scottish Ale)
This one is as advertised. Pours a dark cooper, almost burgundy color. Aromas of dark fruit, caramel, and toffee. Flavors of caramel, sweet dark fruit, and a bold, rich, malt finish. Full bodied and smooth. A solid scottish ale.  Stevens Point has stepped it up with their Whole Hog series.

Brewers Reserve Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale

Brewers Reserve Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale, Central Waters Brewing Company, Amherst, WI
(Scotch Ale, Rated 97)
This amazing offering, from one of the nation's leading barrel-aging breweries, pours a nice dark brown with a thin offwhite head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, malty, and bourbon. Tastes of sweet dark fruit and malts. The bourbon flavor lingers throughout the taste and warms the throat. My love for scotch ales is a little new and this bourbon barrel-aged scotch is outstanding!

Thumbprint Series Winter Warmer

Thumbprint Series Winter Warmer, New Glarus Brewing Company, New Glarus, WI
This scotch ale from New Glarus' Thumbprint Series pours an amber-orange color with no head. Sweet aroma of caramel, toffee, and some malts. Flavorful taste with toasted malts, toffee, little bit of belgian yeast, and some tangy floral hops at the finish. Not my favorite from this series, but definitely a Winter Warmer.

Slainte

Slainte, Central Waters Brewing Company, Amherst, WI
Very dark brown pour. Smells of roasted malts and caramel. Taste of roasted males, dark chocolate, little smokiness, and a wee bit of scotch at the finish. Very smooth and creamy.

Okauchie Scotchie

Okauchie Scotchie, Delafield Brewhaus, Delafield, WI

Another amazing beer from Delafield Brewhaus. A brown ale aged in bourbon whiskey barrels for one year. Deep red pour. Aroma is very fruity, raisin, brown sugar, with solid bourbon. The bourbon nearly overpowers the beer. Sweet taste with some roasted malts, cherries, and there is no hiding the bourbon.  A Winter warmer for sure!
